“INSPIRATION” the Childrenn’s Rehabilitation Centre
ASPECTS OF OUR WORK:
- «The Road to a home» project: Program for the adoption of children between 1 month & 11 years of age.
- «I’m someone who’s free & who takes responsibility» project: Rehabilitation of «difficult» young people between the ages of 14 & 18.
- «The Big Game» project: WE educational hobbies for our pupils.
- «The School of the Future» project: Establishment of pedagogical formation derived during the work with the young people who have passed through the Centre.
THE ROAD TO A HOME:
THE PROJECT’S AIMS:
To help young orphans to find an adoptive family.
To rehabilitate orphans into familial life.
To give any psychological help for potential parents.
THE REASONING BEHIND THE PROJECT:
Orphaned children experience difficulty in adapting to family life even at a very young age. The absence or lack of love and attention makes itself felt in resentment, in health and in the personal development of children.
We want every child to have a family!
WHERE THE CHILDREN COMES FROM: the children are referred by the social agency for children in the region, by orphanages, by boarding schools or they come from families «at risk».
OUR SUCCESSES: in 5 years we have managed to place 30 children entrusted to us in adoptive families.
HOW WE GO ABOUT IT:
Alexis visited us because he heard a lot of good things about us from his friends. When he wanted to leave again, a one of the mothers of the foster family (where children are placed without passing through adoption) arrived and asked him to help her to hold one of her children. Alexis took Roman in his arms, for a long time remaining silent, like on seeing a miracle, and finally said: «I’m not giving him back to you! I want to adopt him!» Some tie later he came with the documents finished and ready in order to adopt not one but two children, and that despite having his own children already!Last summer a young couple came to adopt a 3 year-old boy. They wanted to give their 2 year-old daughter a big brother, someone to play with and a companion in her studies… But the foster family in question was under quarantine and the couple came to know some older boys. They sympathized with Maxim, an 11 year-old boy, so much that they wanted to adopt him. Today Maxim is at the head of his class, helps his mother in her homework, takes his little sister out… and has started learning the guitar and embroidery.

THE PROJECT’S AIM:
To help children leaving orphanages in their adaptation to their social and working life. Also, to convey basic elements in the social and educational realm.
THE REASONING BEHIND THERE ACTIONS:
In Russia, there are currently 700 000 orphans. Their social and working life starts at between 15 and 18 yeas old. The absence of basic educational, social and affective skills and the lack of a career very frequently drives there children to drug abuse, alcoholism, crime…
THE PROJECT AND ITS RESULTS SO FAR:
The children receive a «super mission»: to create with their own hands, in two months, an all-terrain vehicle known as a « buggy ».
By orientating themselves towards this project young people learn, step by step, a track. Little by little, they discover team-work, the joy of useful knowledge, the application of their own potential. They discover that every creation requires work, and by discovering this they do it with joy.
STATUTORY FRAMEWORK:
The National Education Department of the Ruza region and the Vocational Education Centre of the city of Ruza.
At the end of the educational program, the young people are awarded the Professional Diploma of a Car Mechanics.
PERSPECTIVES:
long-term project (5 years or more),
construction of a testing-ground ongoing as of 2009,
organization of a test-drive f buggies from the workshop,
participation in competitions with other buggy enthusiasts,
job-seeking for young people, in partnership with the local government agency.
EFFECTS OF PARTICIPATION:
The arrival of an orphan into adult life is testing and complex process. The teenager is not yet ready for the responsibility of adult life. For him, it is difficult to find work or study to provide for his needs. Work in the Centre’s workshops allows the acquirement of the basics of a career, to became passionate about future work and to receive moral and material support. The collective pedagogy of the Centre makes it attentive to the needs of every boarder, taking account of psychological traumas. Thus, the young person can enter adult life without fear, having vanquished their psychological and affective difficulties.
To ensure a harmonious development of their individuality, our young people also participate in workshops of: Painting, Carpentry, Theater, Ironwork and farm
HOW YOU CAN HELP US:
BY WORD: talk about the project to your friends or acquaintances. We are always ready to give detailed plans on the development of the initiative.
BY ACT: in order to assure the progress of this project, we need to find finance of around 11 000 €, of which almost 6 000 will be used in order to complete fully the equipping of the workshop and 5 existing buggies. 5 000 € will be allocated to the daily life during the two months program, as well as paying the salaries of 5 tutors.

THE BIG GAME:
The organization of WE activities for former residents of the Centre.
Every Sunday, around 40 children come to the Centre from orphanages, boarding schools or the surrounding villages.
THE SCHOOL OF THE FUTURE:
THE AIM OF OUR EDUCATIONAL SYSTEM: the awakening and the development of a personality healthy in spirit, adapted socially to life, having integrated all the capacities necessary to a perfectly happy life in work and leisure.
- A healthy personality presupposes the acquirement of the following elements:
- A perception of one’s profound nature (body and spirit),
- A perception of the nature of context (things and representations),
- Social adaption of one’s personality,
- Capacity to socialize as an individual,
- Capacity of individual realization.
THE REASONING BEHIND THE PROJECT:
The present context is marked by the dangerously low level of social and educational knowledge of students. We must remark on the decline in intellectual attainment, the lack of communication skills, the absence of moral principles or of civil responsibility, and the exclusion of children. This is only a short litany of what we can discover in the contemporary pupil. We are obliged to declare that in the current educational system, there is a lack of means, of aims and of concrete results.
PROPOSED APPROACH:
Development of a spiritual life and a healthy psyche;
Development of a capacity to analyze;
Development of creative abilities;
Formation of a adequate «I» (experience, practice, discussion);
Acquirement of the basics of practical knowledge.
It must be said that the acquirement of these starting points is not an end in itself, but only several steps of formation of an adequate «I», which is why the essential «question/answer» for the child must be:
- Why do I need to learn? What of what I have learnt can help me?
- In order to attain the fullness of joy – that joy which is life’s meaning.
«Natural» is the watchword of apprenticeship. Our educational approach necessarily takes into account the natural development of every child.
THE MISSION OF «INSPIRATION»:
- Give back to every child happiness and childhood.
- Do everything in order to restore the taste for life.
- Open to the child the joy of creation, of knowledge and communication.
- Help the orphan in difficult moments of his life and not to abandon this child.
- Help the child to find his vocation, to find a job and gain sound knowledge.
- Become a family for each orphan we meet.
Because the most important thing is a life full of joy!

BY CAR FROM MOSCOW:
Join the Novorijskoye motorway (М9), then take the exit after 84th km for Ruza in the direction of Nikolskoye. Exactly after the filling station, turn right, towards the group of red-brick cottages.
BY TRAIN FROM MOSCOW: From the Riga station, take a train for Volokolamsk, Shahovskaya or Rumiantsevo. Get off at Rumiantsevo, take the bus for Ruza or the taxi (autostop) and stop or get off at the village of Nikolskoye, walk ahead a little and after the filling station, turn right, towards the group of red-brick cottages.
